The deadline to apply is Nov. 19. Read more in this note from Theodore Kim and Carla Correa. The New York Times today opened applications for its 2026-27 Times Fellowship, a yearlong opportunity aimed at developing early career talent in various facets of journalism. Since 2019, more than 200 fellows have published the kind of rigorous and essential journalism that is at the heart of The Times’s newsroom. The next cohort, our eighth, will include reporters, visual journalists, an audience editor and an A.I. Initiatives fellow. For the first time, a fellowship is available on our Election Data Analytics team. Fellows work full time, in either the newsroom or the Opinion section. They are paid and receive benefits, and gain access to speakers and a writing coach. The fellowship is set to begin on June 1, 2026, and end on May 21, 2027. Ideal candidates will have some newsroom or equivalent experience and will demonstrate a strong commitment to journalistic independence. They should be curious about innovative approaches to storytelling. Applicants should not have more than five years of professional journalism experience beyond campus media and internships. They must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and for the duration of the program. The Times will not sponsor visas. To be considered for a fellowship, candidates should submit their materials here by 5 p.m. Eastern on Nov. 19. Please be advised that the application window is shorter than in previous years.
